Maldives Marine Research Seeking to Name Rare Dolphin
Male’-The Fisheries Ministry’s Marine Research Center has said that it has found a skeleton of a rare dolphin that it is finding a suitable name for the mammal. It said that there had been no study found on how the mammal looked like.
The center in a statement said that there were reports of this rare dolphin’s skeleton found in some countries in the region but so far no one has seen the real life form of the mammal and how it lived in its habitats.
The research center said that they are looking to discuss with regional countries where the type of dolphin skeleton found and within next three months they will have some idea to name the mammal.
Dolphins are common mammal found in the Maldivian waters especially when fisherman find large amount of sardines in their catch near reefs and the channels between the Atolls. Many captains travelling from islands to Male’ tell different stories and wonderful acrobatic acts the dolphins make especially when the sun nears to set.
Sometimes dolphins accompany with boats travelling where it had been a marvelous sight for foreigners visiting to Maldives.
